Coffee Meets Bagel, the dating service that focuses on quality over quantity, has today announced the close of a .8 million Series A financing round led by existing investor DCM Ventures.

Quest Ventures and Azure Capital also participated in the round. Launched in 2012, Coffee Meets Bagel aims to find one quality match for their users every day by using friend-of-a-friend connections on Facebook.

It is hosted by Slicehost Llc (Missouri, Laclede,) using Apache/2 web server.

Coffee in the morning; coffee and a catch up with old friends; going for coffee with your new hot date – we drink coffee morning, day and night with friends, business associates and lovers.

The site sends you one match (or bagel) at noon each day, which you can 'like', 'pass', or 'give' to a friend.

The Kang sisters told Heavy that the idea to create the site came from a personal need.

Studying the classics allowed me to look at ancient religions and magic, subjects which I was greatly drawn to.

My dissertation was on series are both influenced by my degree subject.

You have only to walk down the nearest high street and note the number of coffee chains to realise the extent of our love affair with our favourite caffeinated beverage.

Coffee Day also marks the long history of the drink: the properties of coffee beans are thought to have first been discovered in Ethiopia.

I studied social psychology (2012) and psychology of addictions (2013).

I graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2005 with a degree in classics.

Plus, one match ever 24 hours means that attention isn’t divided among multiple matches at once.
