Plentyoffish dating forums are a place to meet singles and get dating advice or share dating experiences etc.Hopefully you will all have fun meeting singles and try out this online dating thing... I haven't heard of any guys legitimately looking for friends on a dating site.

friendship online dating sites-19

I voted to keep this thread going, just because the intensity of the replies indicates that it is something that requires ongoing discussion, even though it HAS been done before.

I can see a few channels that thoughts about this are falling into: - People who are serious about searching for a long term partner, who resent those who are "clogging the scene" in a search for friendships alone.

- People who are angry that someone has used "friendship" as a cover story for a guilt-free rejection of them.

- People who are angry about the use of a search for friendship to disguise a search for commitment free sexual experiences.

I have, in fact, met some really good friends off here, and clearly spell out that I'm not looking for anything more both in my profile and any conversations I have with other fishies. Looking for or offering "friends" or "lets just be friends" or "friends first" usually (and always online) = "I want to control and dictate the relationship. No matter what I maintain the self image that I am a good person, doing good altruistic things, an innocent hiding behind the shield of the word friend."If a woman is just looking for "friends", its an out.

I have an idea of how you are supposed to behave, and how I want you to behave. But it's too much work to actually communicate them so I will just use the handy word of "friend" which really has no meaning by itself, only what I define it as. If she dates you and doesnt like you she can always pull the "I have always said I wanted to be friends"...(and so do you ;) )This is not just a dating site otherwise there would be no option for just looking for talk/email or friends.Stop being so concerned about what other people are doing and pay attention to your own life.If a guy tells you he just wants to be friends, it means he got what he wanted....Deep down, I think coming here for friends is masquerading as ultimately wanting to date.Friends is one of the "looking for" options the site offers.2. Men and women both select "friends" and "hang out."4.
