The fixes revolve around the open source components of Mac OS X (including curl, Ruby, and Samba), directory services, and dealing with maliciously crafted files in Image IO, Quick Time, and various other internal libraries.

We encourage users not to click the 'Open' button automatically in the Mac OS X File Quarantine dialog, and suggests that Safari users should uncheck the 'Open 'safe' files after downloading' option in the General pane of Safari's preferences.

Most apps should be updated by their developers to support Lion, but you can also quickly check for incompatible apps by looking at System Profiler to identify any Power PC applications – these won’t work.

Security Update 2009-003 -- The security fixes included in Mac OS 10.5.8 are also available (as appropriate) for users still running Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger.

All previous security updates have been incorporated in Security Update 2009-003, so you shouldn't need to do the multiple download dance if you're not up to date.
